New town development for a new town

Island City is a newly created city that reclaims part of Hakata Bay in the eastern part of Fukuoka City. In 2027, a population of 18,000 and a working population of 14,000 are planned. In order to solve various problems in the growing period of the town where the resident population has increased from about 5,000 to 7,500, the following four activity guidelines and eight activity targets were formulated.

1．Town development and community activities
2．Research and proposal of town design
3．Support for research and collaboration by universities and companies
4．Information dissemination and public relations of Island City

With the deputy director of UDCIC (Island City Urban Design Center), a collaboration of civil studies was established, working with three resident staff taking part in various town development activities.

The following achievements were made mainly during the three years from 2013 to 2015.
